The Call to Prayer
The ancient tradition of our church has always utilized bells to call the faithful to prayer. When the bells are rung, whether we are in church, on our way to Mass or are close enough to a bell tower, this joyful, blessed noise instinctively calls us to prayer. The very sight of a bell tower, soaring into the heavens draws our eyes upwards, as so should our hearts. It is time for us to build a bell tower, fitting of our beautiful sanctuary and call people to prayer.
The Call to Catechesis
Jesus Christ has instructed us to go out to all nations, teaching and baptizing in the Holy Name of the Trinity. We must use material resources available to increase our faith and instruct others. This manifests itself in books, medals, statues and sacramentals. With our continued growth, it is time for our Parish to build a fitting holy goods store so as to promote the faith to others and provide us with both ancient and current resources.
The Call to Hospitality
In Matthew 18:20, our Lord and Savior tells us that “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in your midst.” Nothing says that this profound, familial experience can’t occur while holding a cup of coffee! Providing a space to not only enjoy a cup of coffee, but also meet visitors to our parish and get to know one another more personally, is exactly the type of creativity we need in this day and age. In the words of Irish Playwright W.B. Yeats, “there are no strangers here; Only friends you haven’t met.” It is time for us to be creative and provide Barista level quality coffee throughout the week for those looking to share a cup with like-minded souls.
